I also bought a Samsung, the LN46A650 (the biggest I could fit). As well as above, I have found the TV to do a nice job with standard TV signals when I must watch them. Sure the detail is missing, but there are no artifacts or jaggies, it does a great job.
I did have a problem with sparkle when watching Blu Rays. I played with the TV menus and found a couple options on one, digital noise reduction or something like that. It was turned off, turned it on, no sparkles!
You are right about the clear panel of the Samsungs, they look great but do reflect a bit more than the dull ones, but the dull ones are, well, dull.
An acquaintance of mine who has a Sharp Aquos noted my Samsung has a better picture.
This TV should hold me over until the new 480 frame rate LED's come out and become cheap.
We'll have to agree to disagree about global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along
