IMO...stay away from Philips and Magnavox. IME...they are cheaply made, they will not hold up. Look to Sony and Panasonic. The Pannys get rave reviews and my $350 Panny that is a year old has performed flawlessly. The only hickup was in trying to load a firmware rev and it locked up. I quit trying to keep up with the firmware revs and have never had a problem playing a BD disc. PS.. the firmware revs that Panny and others have had to come out with involve mostly non conforming disc authoring by the studios.
