RE: What features should I look for in a BluRay Player?

Yes, you can record. But, that means building up a Home Theatre PC around a Blu-ray reader/writer. Get a video card that accelerates AVC etc and does HDMI audio out (and maybe 3D). It'll end up costing more than just a Blu-ray player, though. But you will be able to create a library of BD movies on a hard drive, which can watched using a media player like the WDTV Live.

If you're buying at the cheap end of the market, stay away from no-name brands because they may not provide firmware updates, which could render them unable to play new releases at some point.

If you have a pre-HDMI receiver or pre/processor, consider a player that has multichannel analog outputs.
