ive read in home theater secrets that wt of the receiver important. the non hdmi are 8 lbs heavier. well the onkyo 696 is.on ebay I found a 5.1 hdmi onkyo nr 50980 wt 40 lbs the specs say they weigh that much but its hard to believe it. there new for $300 to $400. that onkyo 696 new was $600 now the hdmi ones are only $300 so I think they messed with the amps. the old ones used wratt tecnology they were high current amps.well good luck finding an amp. ps most of the hdmi amps 100wt or less are about 20lbs I checked onkyo & denon. so my guess is the yamaha is equal to the other brands.
