Will a TV's optical out put out stereo?

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

This is kind of an after thought since my set is supposed to arrive Thursday. Few if any of the newer TVs have an analog out. I have extra DACs around the house, but I don't know if it will work. I don't really want to buy a reciever. :-(
