A few years ago, the tube in my 27" actually cracked right across the screen when we powered it up one morning for the kids. It was about 2 weeks out of warranty on the tube and a replacement was around $300! After talking with my local tech, Sony regional tech and finally Sony in St Louis, they sent my shop a new tube.Strange but true. I grew up with Sony and always bought Sonys myself but when it came time to start over (she got everything of course) after my divorce, I bought JVC.
