I too learned a lot in the process of shopping, I think the internet is the greatest window shopping device ever, so there's a wealth of info. you might want to check out etown.com and www.audioreview.com, both pretty good sites for learning about the gear out there. good luck and plan well...btw progressive scan is video that's generated 1 frame at a time (loewe does 60 frames per second) instead of the usual interlaced scanning (there are a few designations such as 480i (most common), 480p (like Loewe), 720p, and 1080i (HD). I guess that a progressive scan DVD player combined with a progressive scan TV is perhaps the best combo out there, although I think my set-up ultimately yields a progressive image despite the DVD player outputting interlaced video.
