Hi D, I have a Toshiba 2200 player which only cost me $250 online. I'd highly recomend it. I don't see any reason to invest anywhere close to $1000 on a dvd player, not even for a receiver. If you're going to spend that much money, I'd start thinking about seperates. Everyone thinks that seperates are so expensive, but once you do your research, you'll find that to not be true. And of course it all depends on what you expect out of your sysytem. Just my input. SteveF
