You mentioned price, and this was a concern for me as well. I stumbled onto www.CrazyEddie.com where you can now check pricing online. I for one was stunned at the difference between their pricing an my local pricing. I went with CrazyEddie and don't regret it. They delivered by Bekins moving and the guys that brought it in were very experienced movers. Shipping cost was about $320. Check AR for reviews.As for off-angle viewing - the Pioneer is excellent; I'm not sure about the others. All seem to have the halo problem which can be distracting at times. That's my biggest disappointment with the set (this appears to be inherent in the design of ALL of these types of RPTVs).
I also added the Duvetyne tweak which was very easy to do and it added much better contrast, color saturation and detail. The 3:2 line doubler in the Elite is excellent. I have not tried an external line doubler. Cable TV is better than I thought it would be. I have not even opened the protective Lexan screen which is highly reflective. The convergence grid is very easy to use and takes about 5 minutes; you might verify the Mits. has this or equivalent.
