I have used both the Pioneer and Toshiba players, these are the only ones I recall with Progressive Scan in that price range.
They are both excellent, but to get the greatest benfit from Progressive scan your monitor/projector should have Progressive scan capability.
The Toshiba 5200 and JVC units also play DVD Audio- the JVC has had some pretty ordinary reviews for its audio performance. I did not have any DVD Audio discs to listen to so I can't comment on the Toshiba either.
