Until now I've been very satisfied with our earlier model Toshiba DVD player (SD-K310A) but it broke down the other week after 18 months intermittent use (on video only). The part that has gone is a small coil on the motherboard, put there to filter out hash. However there is no part number for it and the techo is not optimistic Toshiba will come through with it. The usual practice with most brands seems to be to junk the whole board and replace it - OK if the unit is still under guarantee but prohibitive otherwise. Now the player is apparently operating again but I await with interest to see how cooperative Toshiba will be about supplying this part.
Apart from the above the Toshiba gives a brilliant picture on all formats (PAL or NTSC) via component out. I cannot comment on the audio as the Theta data III is used for CDs.
