Cool movie alert: went to see Bob Le Flambeur yesterday. It's a 1955 French Noir (like an '87 Mondavi only different, tee hee).I went to see the movie because it was mentioned in Frederick Barthelme's book "Bob the Gambler".
If you have seen and liked Godard's Breathless or Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player then you have just got to see this. It has that on-the-fly feel and trey kule Paris wet-cobblestones cinematography. I don't know why I didn't know about this movie before but don't let your life go by without seeing this one. And, wonderful news, I just found it on Amazon, a Criterion DVD.
See it & ask yourself why Hollywood even bothers...
