Directed by Gary Oldman. Astonishing film. I was shocked, appalled, and disturbed by it and loved every minute. I'd tangle with Ben Kingsley's Don Logan any day rather than Ray Winstone in this gem.
Follow Ups:
Saw it at the Portland Film Festival a couple of years ago. Pretty unrelentingly depressing. Couldn't find any saving grace. But it did appear as a light comedy next to a French entry, which, if memory serves, was something titled "I Stand Alone." Better remove all sharp objects, ropes, and guns from the house before you rent that one. A real laugh fest..."Butcher Boy" is in a similar vein, if that's your cup of tea, to mix a few metaphors for you.
