A film about duality,on one side the dream of Hollywood ( happy family...Sinatra.. .Dean Martin... Christmas & death .....on video..sound you can hear..but without images..later,you learn it was his wife...) and then the reality...un-happiness,cheating..in one word..real life..a little bit of " cinema reality " actors addressing the camera...you get attached to them.. The after believing in santa Claus...The adult time...the dreams shattered...trying to hold tight the old myth of happiness...
The story keep getting better and better...and the "grown up" start to be..grown up..thank you Victor,..I would not want to miss it...
this balance act bettween sorrow and optimism...and as said ..we all die feeling guilty..and that is anice & true touch.
Follow Ups:
The latest film by Eric Rohmer - we saw it today.A marvelous and stylish account of the times of turmoil of French Revolution. Incredibly enjoyable, and long - at over two hours.
Woderful use of painted backdrops to recreate the atmosphere that actually works incredibly well - I don't recall any other film that did it so effectively.
Highly recommended to those tired of Star Wars and ray guns.
Last night watched Love in the City, with segments done by Fellini and others. Wonderful.
Well , I will have to wait till it comes on video as in Germany Small film has no chance to come to the movie house...
I just received today one of my favorite comedy " Victor Victoria " the Julie Andrew version with the exellent Robert Preston, the BEST EVER homosexual role in an big movie...
