Hi,
Turing was one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th Century, no question. He does not get the recognition he deserves, his story won't be done, I suspect. That whole group was quite remarkable, and I suspect getting an appreciation of the magnitude of their accomplishment is not only beyond a movie, I am not sure there is a single book that relates just how pivotal their role was (the Turing machine theory was developed at this time, as a result, and is a theoretical underpinning of modern computers).Don't know if the film dwelled on the burden this device placed on Chruchill; but as valuable as it was, protecting
it came at a terrible cost.
Follow Ups:
Some aspects of Turing's life have been fictionalized in the film. But the cost in ships and lives for keeping the machine secret features prominently in "Enigma" and provides key plot points and much of the dramatic tension.
This machine still exist....
