It's one of those great, seemingly, "mindless", but taut story, action films, with some of the best actors of the genre...Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Stewart Granger, Roger Moore, Hardy Kruger. Journeyman, action film director, Andrew McLaglen, "steers" the actors to their marks here, and probably after many nights of hard drinking and carousing. There must have been some great stories exchanged there, with all of that "film history" going around! There's no doubt they all "did it for the money" and the opportunity to sorcialize, but they all have that ability to, seemingly,
"sleepwalk", through their roles, but you can see the acting wheels, turning all of the time. The result is an enjoyable 2hours that goes by so fast!!!The only thing flooting around is the occasional VHS, but the film score is available as a UK import, with the Roy ("Get Carter"...the Michael Caine film version) Budd soundtrack, and that Joan Armatrading title song.
Follow Ups:
It was quite a story at the time. Everyone was amazed when the film came in reasonably clse to schedule. Moore, Harris and Burton could consume great amounts of booze and still do their scenes. Of course, considering some of the dialogue, maybe that was the only way they could do their scenes.
