The tongue 'n cheek asides are roll-in-the-floor funny; these alone are worth the price of admission (i.e., purchase). Director Del Toro and Producer Peter Frankfurt are reminiscent of Cheech & Chong at their craziest, but without the now politically incorrect stoner-humor. What you do get is insight into the Directors decision-making process that resulted in certain scenes that tended to slow the pacing ending up on the cutting room floor. When all is said and done however, it's the humor that makes the Director/Producer commentaries a real treat.Check this one out; you won't regret it! :o)

I will picked it up soon, as it probably will be discounted to the "14.99" and below, price level, like the first one. I think Snipes killed off his own franchise, like Mike Meyers did when he shot himself in the foot with Austin Powers 3! Quite a major accomplishment, in it's own right, when you think of it!The clue is, when they deep discount the previous chapters on DVD, PRIOR TO the release of the new theatrical release, you know it's days are numbered. The Austin Power 1&2 went as low as $12.99 in places. "Blade" went for as low as $14.99. Lots of both of these titles, on the shelves, and EVERYWHERE!!!!
It's a good popcorn, diversion film, but that's about it. Nothing pithy. No better than his turn in "Judge Dread", really, and "Dread" was better!
I was sitting on the fence on whether I should get the DVD of this one (saw it in the theater, loved the action, tolerated the gore and the Greek tragedy ending) and your positive recs on the commentary won me over.Another DVD with really interesting commentaries is "Donnie Darko," because a lot of the hints about Donnie's alternative timeline dilemma are very subtle and it took the Director and actors pointing each one out for me to really appreciate how carefully crafted and thoughtfully designed this movie is (okay, my sentence structure stinks).
