The robots had the same fascination with their creators as humans have with their creator(s). The difference being that the robots knew exactly who their creators were.

OT: One thing that always bugs me when cloning etc. is shown in pop media: they never seem to explain how an adult is cloned immediately, rather than it starting out as a baby. *That* is something WAY beyond mere cloning.
