I had read that Soderberg originally wanted Daniel Day Lewis for that
role, but Lewis was busy making Scorcese's "Gangs of New York" at the
time, so he asked what's his name. I personally don't have any
affinity or animosity toward what's his butt, thought he was OK in "Three Kings", but like Kevin Costner, he's never really made any
great impression on me. Maybe Jeremy Irons would have been a better
choice? BTW, unfortunately missed the original Solaris on TCM, it's
out of stock at amazon.com., but will keep an eye open. - AH

Well, that role calls for someone thoughtful, insightful, who can play inner emotions. None of the above applies to George.Hmmmm... Jeremy? I love that actor and that surely would be an intriguing idea. And you know what - I think several great British guys would be great in that role. Let's face it - I wish Anthony Hopkins made that one instead of his atrocious Hannibal trash. What a waste of great acting talent! Saw him sime time ago in the Bounty again - simply marvelous!!!!!!!!!
