I am sorry, I just don't get Jane Campion's films. She creates these psychosexual female characters who seem victims of their own devise. The Holy Smoke movie was totally ludicrous - Kate Winslet's character was maddening.

Meg Ryan gets credit for trying to shed her bubbly girl image with this character, though the nudity did seem unnencessary at times. Ruffalo was very good.

I agree with you on one thing - the movie is very grimy and gritty and I didn't feel clean either.
