It's an excellent flick. Granted there's some serious beefcake (European style) but it's done with a woman's eye. The composition of the scenes is almost unbelievably good. I'll never forget the men going through their grueling practice courses -- then doing their own ironing. Is that irony, or what?

Don't know if this is giving anything away, but, the plot is based on Billy Budd -- and some of the music comes from Britten's opera of the same name.
