1. Movie you hate but everyone else loves:Hate's a strong word...Austin Powers
2. Movie you love but everyone else hates:
Ishtar (seriously...I think it's hysterical)
3. This scene makes you cry EVERY TIME:
Eric Liddell winning the gold medal in Chariots Of Fire ("God made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure.")
4. This scene makes you laugh no matter HOW MANY TIMES you see it:
Raising Arizona, when the guy' asking the clerk if the balloons blow up into funny shapes and the clerk says, "Not unless you think round is funny."
5. This scene still scares you:
The ball rolling down the stairs in The Changling.
Follow Ups:
I love that scene in "Chariots" too-the other scene that gets to me is Ian Holm as Sam Mussubini, alone in his hotel room as learns of Abrahams' victory. A wonderful bit of acting from one of my favorite character actors (loved his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins).Director Hugh Hudson was a true one hit wonder-his other films are pretty poor.
"A little government and a little luck are necessary in life, but only a fool trusts either of them".
-P. J. O'Rourke
Ditto on on the Mussubini scene. Also, just before Liddel's race when the American racer hands him the note with the "He who honors me..." quote.Hugh Hudson's treatment for a dog food commercial was left where I work by someone from an ad agency. It talked about things like "celebrating a unity of dogs." or some such thing.
