I love that scene in "Chariots" too-the other scene that gets to me is Ian Holm as Sam Mussubini, alone in his hotel room as learns of Abrahams' victory. A wonderful bit of acting from one of my favorite character actors (loved his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins).Director Hugh Hudson was a true one hit wonder-his other films are pretty poor.

Follow Ups:
Ditto on on the Mussubini scene. Also, just before Liddel's race when the American racer hands him the note with the "He who honors me..." quote.Hugh Hudson's treatment for a dog food commercial was left where I work by someone from an ad agency. It talked about things like "celebrating a unity of dogs." or some such thing.
