...as due to some unfathomable reason, Patrick, while showing his affection, uses to dislike so many films I do like, that it has become somewhat rutinary...Small wonder that you could make no heads or tails about that...! Neither can I some times...

So, You misse me some times? I though you would not....NO regards,
Patrick
PS: Where is your friend Victor by the way?
........Patrick, it was not so long ago that you were whining about "having an off day" and people should stop antagonizing you. Yet you seem to have an affinity for doing this to others. When you are the recepient of personal criticism you suggest that you are being victimized. But when you are the antagnoist you justify your words in the name of "fun." Most adults recognize this behavior as hypocracy, but apparently you do not. I'm not sure how to translate hypocrite into French, but I would be surprised if you were not already familiar with this term. Its ironic that while you take so much effort to post multiple (dozens?) times per day to this film forum, you rarely offer substantial, film-related comments/criticism. Most of the threads that you participate in end with you posting some type of deragatory remark or condescending opinion aimed at your "worthy opponent." ... i.e. whoever is disagreeing with you at that particular moment. These negative comments almost always have nothing to do with film, or even the original topic of the thread.
Patrick as this is a public forum you are obvuisly free to engage any way you see fit. Uou were here long before me and I suspect you will be here long after I leave. But in the meantime, perhaps you could reflect for a minute on how your consistently demeaning personal criticisms of others reflect on you? While you may consider yourself to be an intellect and a (film) scholar, your credibilty in these two areas is deterioring with each of your antagonizing posts.
Victor is the perfect humanist as one can be, he is more " for the people " as the so much self proclaimed " liberal " who disguise their genes behind the mask of hypocrisy & their jalousie & their own fetid scent.
That said, I know for long that some among us, need a very strong hand, because they have been raise to, they never had the chance to have a glimpse of deep liberty & of moral integrity & of natural beauty & of an immaculated soul.
- In truth, the rage they feel is the rage they feel toward themself.
As for you Sean, when you donīt like a book by a given author, do you still pursuit his oeuvre? I donīt.
And yes you are right, my love for film will let me remain here for a lond while, because unlike you it is the sole reason to my presence here.A bonne entendeur, salut.
PS: By the way the word " Hypocrite " IS French ( from the Greek )
Well, lesse... your initial attack on Patrick today was most likely the result of your inability to understand what he said. It wasn't all that complicated, really, but listen, it was not aimed any anyone in particular, so your reaciton was obviously based in something, not his post. Your reaction was completely off the wall and uncalled for... and then you escalated it... looks like you came here to pick up a fight. This forum is for expressing opinions on films, not people. If you don't like someone's opinion - don't read his posts... what's what I do to some here and elsewhere.
Any film thrown here for discussion is a fair game. If we can't openly express our opinions - however strong - on something as silly as films then perhaps we should simply stay locked in our rooms.
It is silly to feel personal about a film you like. When someone says the film I like is crap I just shrug my shoulders, I do not consider it condescending at all.
There are people here who respect Patrick's opinion, and knowing him and his track record, he needs not say much. To me, for instance, just his brief go-no go is usually enough. If you want someone write longer essay's than they do I say that is tough, people write what they feel, not what you want them to write. If you want to write a long one by all means do so.
As far as the completely idiotic and frankly scummy sttacks on his language skills, well, you didn't see it fit to interrupt and challenge them today, so I suggest you too have not shown yourself in the best possible light... surely it wasn't you who launched it, but you were present, obviously. In every country there will be cretins who cringe at accents of others and laugh at their mistakes, but fortunately those cretins are not the norm.
Has you challenged that cretin you would have more moral currency now.

........ Victor, actually I think I understand what Patrick said perfectly. He said that I had the wrong reasons for disliking 21 Grams. This in itself is a bit strange because in my original post from a few days ago, about 21 Grams and Sean Penn, I stated that I enjoyed the movie, but I did not particularly think Penn's performance was that strong. I voiced questions about Penn, but I did not say anything about disliking the film. Anyway, thinking that maybe I was misinterpreting what Patrick was suggesting about my wrong reasons for disliking the film, I responded to Patrick's post & asked him if I was getting wrong idea or if I was missing something about what he was saying. There was no "attack" on Patrick by me. Patrick's reply was (I am paraphrasing here) "yes you are definatly missing something." End of his post - no attempt to address any of my questions. Victor, what do you make of that response? To me it is smug and pretentious. And not unlike many of his other posts that you can easily locate via the archive. You don't think those comments were aimed directly at me? Seeing as how Patrick did not bother to explain himself, what am I to think?
but listen, it was not aimed any anyone in particular, so your reaciton was obviously based in something, not his post. Your reaction was completely off the wall and uncalled for... and then you escalated it... looks like you came here to pick up a fight...... Victor, are we reading the same posts? What are you talking about? Why would I be reacting to something besides what Patrick posted? I read it and I asked him to explain himself and he insulted me. Its pretty simple. Also I didn't escalate anything. If you look at the posts I only made 2 or 3 right directly to Patrick. Then a bunch of other people jumped in (you included.) I had already split by then. It wasn't until a while later when I returned to my computer to find 10 or so posts in the thread.
As far as the completely idiotic and frankly scummy sttacks on his language skills, well, you didn't see it fit to interrupt and challenge them today, so I suggest you too have not shown yourself in the best possible light......... Are you kidding me? Victor, you are suggesting that I am somehow accountable because other people attack Patrick's english? Victor, this is pathetic. I simply am not able to sit at my computer all day and monitor this forum. This is absurd.

In every country there will be cretins who cringe at accents of others and laugh at their mistakes, but fortunately those cretins are not the norm. Has you challenged that cretin you would have more moral currency now........Again Victor, this is really quite a feeble argument. I only wish everybody had such a black and white view of things as life would be a lot simpler........So, now I have low morals because I was away from my PC and could not come to Patrick's rescue when a 3rd party was making fun of his languge? Somehow I am condoning the persection of Patrick in my failure to defend him from other people's comments? Does that also hold true for everyone else who might have been on line at the time and failed to step forward and fight the good fight?
Victor, maybe you would like me to be on call & you can page me from now on when you think there is injustice taking place here on the forum? Or should we just assume that you already recognize yourself in that role?
Well, you are back now, aren't you?
