In December, Victor recommended the Claude Chabrol film, "Merci Pour le Chocolat" with the words, "If you happen to run into it, see it." I just caught it on the Sundance Channel. A good movie. If it were made in America, it would be coarsened up and turned into a Lifetime made-for-TV movie. Happily, it was made by a master of the small family drama. Check your local listings for Sundance and try to run into it, as Victor said.I love the final shot of Isabelle Huppert! And being a piano-loving audiophile didn't hurt my enjoyment of the film either!

Some critics call him that way. Anyways, he is not my favorite director, but a few to consider if you like that suspence with French twist:Story of Women
Unfaithful Wife
Ten Days Wonder
Innocents with Dirty HandsAll these have entertainment value, the Innocents perhaps the most interesting - with Romy Schneider and Rod Steiger.
