If underexposed, justly so. I found this very weak. It emphasized action over the wonder and paradoxical problems of time travel. I couldn't get through it. I also thought the acting was mediocre. Crichton has done better, far better, but you have to blame the film makers for this one.
Follow Ups:
I do agree the book wasn't near one of Crichton's better stories. Actually, having read (and been bored by) the book, I think the movie was better. While it ignored the more dramatic issues you raise, it was more authentic at portraying the medieval environment than 99%, and I found that element alone worth the grand rental charge of 99 cents.I don't understand the mindset of studios that spend huge sums on production of a period piece like this, but completely ignore the story potential that could be dramatically improved at little cost.
