Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr are flawless in this John Huston directed film...Of Huston's film's it seems that The African Queen get all the publicity but this film is IMHO it's equal if not better...Kerr was nominated for Best Actress for her protrayal of the nun stranded on a Pacific island with the irreverent military man Mr. Allison...Old time Hollywood film making at it's best!
Follow Ups:
I too love this film. Saw it for the first time as a kid and really liked it then as well.
"Road to Bali" stars Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. This version was digitally remastered and is selling for only $2. It looked colorized but I read that it was filmed in color and the only one of the "Road series" of films starring the comedic pair. The color was not terrible, just not as sharp as a modern film. It was silly and my wife enjoyed it also. I paid $1 for it used at a local record shop and thought that was a bargain.
I paid a bit more for some old "horror" films in a DVD set called "Roger Corman Classics" and have watched perhaps two of the four movies on it. I have seen the popular "Little Shop of Horrors" before of course, but it has been a while. That was perhaps one of Jack Nicholson's first roles. I just saw him yesterday on TV in "Chinatown".
