Loren Dean plays Mumford, a newly arrived small town shrink who in his short tenure has become wildly popular and successful despite his penchant for sharing patients' secrets with other patients. He seems to be treating the entire town (also called Mumford) and many of those under his care interact with others as the story progresses. Lawrence Kasdan wrote and idrected this very low key ensemble film and it shows his humanist bent. There are no big plot twista (there barely IS a plot) and no big surprises. But the gentleness of the film is beguiling and it is expertly cast using a bunch of Hollywood B types. Very enjoyable but i can't put my finger on exactly why.

I really enjoyed this film; you have to be in the right frame of mind for a nice, gentle film experience.
