I too was shocked at how bad "The Island" was - but it was just plain boring. Even Scarlett Johansson somehow didn't look pretty. It's depressing how bad movies these days are a mundane combination of a cheap video game and a website homepage.
**BUT**
I would never lump that turkey "The Island" in with the wonderfully bad/good "Ishtar". Personally I think the first 20 minutes of Ishtar are a riot. The songs are hilarious and well crafted (at being awful)... "Tellin' The Truth Can Be A Dangerous Business" is worth the price of a used video . Whenever Hoffman and Beatty are writing or singing , I'm at the edge of seat . "Ishtar" get's brought out with "Scarface" , "Showgirls" , "Hillbillies In A Haunted House " , " Bitter Moon" and other "bad" classics every year or so. "
