The Wild Bunch is a classic which broke the mold of the western myth; it actually deconstructs the traditional western film and tells a more allegorical, relativistic story. In fact, The Wild Bunch changed the way we view the western culture by creating a whole new dynamic for gritty realism. After The Wild Bunch westerns would never be the same again.BTW, Straw Dogs and The Getaway are okay, but The Wild Bunch is Peckinpah's most realized vision and few critics will dispute that it's his greatest achievement. From my perspective, The Wild Bunch is his most moving, innovative film, but most of his films are rewarding fare.
