My point is that this was a missed opportunity to have a sensational grand openning of the restored El Capitan Theatre. King Kong is far more atmospheric and spectacular in a 1930's vintage classic movie palace way. Narnia has more of a warm/fuzzy 60's era Disney feel (Polyanna, Thomasina, etc.) which seems more Merchant Ivory than grand spectacle, especially leading up to the wardrobe cross-over, notwithstanding the brief blitz of London sequence. This isn't meant as a criticism of TCoN, because in my estimation there's plenty to criticize in every other aspect of this tedious, lackluster film. In any case, I'd dearly love to see PJ's King Kong or even the original King Kong in a classic movie palace. :o)
