I'm sure that this film will be nominated for best picture...To me it was very similar to Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon". The Cinematography was absolutely beautiful! With very little dialog Malick created breathtaking "sound pictures" to set the mood of a given scene. For never having stepped before a camera before, I thought the young woman playing the Pocahontas role did a great job!!! The whole allure of Colin Farrell is lost on me however as I commented to my wife. She quickly told me that was because I'm not a woman....Oh well... It's nice to see that every now and then Hollywood still allows a director to make art on the cinema screen...I hope Malick still has a few more left in him....

paraphrase of the New Yorker review.
Actually, in all fairness, the reviewer seemed to like it. It's kind of a vacillating opinion.
