David Hedison (then known as "Al") is a scientist whose genes get mixed up with a fly's in a teleportation experiment gone wrong. His brother Vincent Price, along with Hedison's wife, looks for a fly with a white head to see if they can undo the damage. The 1958 film was shot in Cinemascope and has directional dialog. It is great fun and had a sequel and a remake and a sequel to the remake. Ir was also parodied in "Matinee" where John Goodman is making a film called "Mant" ("You're still a man! Put that insect aside!" "Insecticide? Where?"). As I said, great fun. "Help me! Help me!"
Follow Ups:
I've seen both and enjoyed them very much.My amazing high school art teacher did some special effects on the second film. His name was Jerald Neidig. Mesa Verda HS.
This teacher brought out some creative stuff in my head like my "Shark Man" made out of clay... This man swims through the ground, had the arms like early Arnold and sporting the head of a great white.
The other was my nuke man... this was my idea of what a person would look like partially blown up by a nuclear bomb just out of the vaporization zone. (This raised some eyebrows in the open house display case)
The producer of the second The Fly, Kip Ohman, was a friend of my brother's who had an extremely "refined" sense of humor. I took them to see Jean-Luc Godard's Sympathy for the Devil way back when, circa 1970.
