Last year, I caught his 'Ferpect Crime', a wicked parody/thriller that comes off like a cross between Monty Python and early Almodovar.

Well, yesterday, I picked up a cheapo DVD called 'The Day of the Beast', a satanic comedy and, as soon as it started, I realized it was the same director but an earlier film.
The story of a priest in modern Madrid, who's cracked a code that tells him the Apocalypse is due on Christmas Day but he doesn't know where and has to commit crimes so that he can get in touch with Satan in order to defeat him. There's some glaring holes in the plot but...with some wonderful slashes at modern society, religion, in that over the top Spanish humour, and the great straight-faced Guilermo Toldeo in both films, who cares?
My cheeks ached at the end, from grinning so much.
Do go and see/order them.
Follow Ups:
...and Maria Grazia Cuccinotta is..., well, sheŽd be able to make any theologician to become an irredeemeable sinner, isnŽt she?Glad that you enjoyed both films.
Regards
...dunno how I got mixed up there, thanks.
Yes, Maria Grazia Cuccinotta's, er, 'lines' in the films were fantastic! lol!
I have to check out Mutant Action - I just love the guy's humour.
