Absolutely great. I was stunned that the DVD has only one soundtrack (other than Clooney comentary) and I believe it is either monaural or stereo. No 5.1. But that might have been distracting. Every actor is superb except Jeff whatshisname who is always terrible, except for Dumb and Dumber. The movie is so current, with its warnings against the right wing, and the current atmosphere of fear of voicing dissent against the government's policies. These speeches, especially the one by Eisenhower, ring true and are clearly warning shots across the bow of the American public. The gyuy who played Murrow was awesome, as was Clooney as Fred Friendly.
This may be one of the first black and white moveis that held my interest. I viewed the widescreen DVD. I skipped the ad for some strange foreign film about a collector.
GRADE: A-, without Jeff whatshisname A. Also, some of the sound is muddled, when there are groups of peopel speaking, like Robert Downey and his wife in the beginning, it is hard to discern what each is saying. Same with the newsroom shots.
