Yesterday was a gloomy rainy Sunday here on Cape Cod so I watched three Richard Gere movies to pass the time. First up was "First Knight" where Gere plays Sir Lancelot and Sean Connery is King Arthur. Both are in love with Julia Ormond's Guinivere. So so. Some night time battles and action sequences are difficult to follow but this may be my laserdisc which is also plagued by mosquito noise on the first two sides.Next up Was a long time favorite, "The Cotton Club". Here Gere is a 1920's and 30's jazz trumpeter who has an affair with a ganster's dirlfriend. The girl is played by Diane Lane. Coppola has devised a weird amalgam of a gangster film and a musical.
These two also star in Adrian Lyne's "Unfaithful". They are mnarried and she has an affair with a young urban book dealer she meets by chance in Manhattan. Gere eventually finds out, with tragic circumstances. This one is very well done and quite explicut in the sex scenes. The original ending was changed after test audiences didn't care for it, something that also happened to Lyne's "Fatal Attraction".
Follow Ups:

I once met a nurse in LA who claimed to have admitted RG (and small friend) to hospital.
