Now I know why Keira Knightly was nominated- her intelligence shows through in every scene, positively illuminating her from within. She absolutely was the center of attention -stealing every single scene.I must say the director Joe Wright, whom I've never heard of, has a smashing technique. Every shot was beautifully set up and many had unusual takes. Early in the film they are at a ball and the long tracking shots where the camera moves unimpeded through the crowds are something.
In another scene the ballroom is full of people yet we only see the two main characters for a moment dancing - superb, seamless editing throughout.
Music is Emotion
Follow Ups:
I agree it is a superb movie and Keira Knightly is great and after watching it I realized a lot of the appeal to me was the dialog. It is a good thing to start with a well written story like this one, a lot of todays scripts wither in comparison.
