Ray Winstone is a law enforcement captain assigned to the middle of nowhere to roundup three desperados responsible for mayhem including rapes, pillage, and nasty knife play on their victims. Guy Pearce plays the sane middle brother while Danny Huston plays the oldest who seems mostly sane till he gets involved in his mischief.
Winstone, rather than chase around the outback, captures Pearce and the younger brother and blackmails Pearce into "offing" Huston in exchange for the younger brother.
Much grit, blood, and violence. Despite that, it's actually a pretty good drama made more interesting by Emily Watson who plays Winstone's proper wife. It's better than a popcorn flick especially if you've performed surgery and eaten a cheeseburger at the same time.

I liked it too. I really enjoyed all the scenes when Winstone was on the screen. He was a commanding presence.
I thought the cinematography was outstanding.
My only slight disappointment was that the ending was rather predictable. Still quite enjoyable, and far above the drivel that is being offered by Hollywood at this time.
