From 1998 & re-titled 'Immortality' in the US, by Po-Chih Leong and with Jude Law, is a very watchable modern take on the vampire/love theme.
Excellent photography, nicely paced & scripted, moody and no special effects/transformations. The music is exceptionally good & Jude Law's in fine form as his selfish hunger for love/redemption becomes his downfall.
Follow Ups:
I like the modern themes where vamps can walk around in the daylight and don't burst into flame at the sign of a cross. Very well thought out story, especially his relationship with the police inspector. His "the devil is the father of all lies" talk was an interesting truism.
