If you can find this Kira Muratova... Kira Muratova... well, some say masterpiece... on a DVD consider yourself very lucky, as very few people will ever see it, I am sure.If you can sit sipping your Coke through Bergman's Persona and Thtough a Glass Darkly then you are probably remotely ready to tackle the Sindrom.
If sifting through the darkest corners of the darkest parts of the darkest melancholy is your thing, then you will be richly rewarded, but if you enter it with an idea of finding an entertainment then you might find your day ruined.
So I suggest you read some - whatever you can find on that work - and then decide whether it is for you... but if it is, then perhaps Kira will find yet another hard-core fan.
Follow Ups:
"We're all sitting in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars."
So easy to concentrate on the obvious, i.e. the kaka, no?
Through a Glass Darkly was not about a kaka, it was about a mental anguish some people suffer.Same for the Sindrom. One can probanly concentrate on the anti-human aspect of it, but in reality the film is like a work of a psychiatrist - examining the society and its ills.
So in some sense Muratova is indeed looking at start, through the haze of melancholy, indifference, alianation, even outright hatered.
