Rupert Pupkin is like Jake La Motta? Absurd!
Rupert Pupkin couldn't be more different then Michael Vronsky - or could young Vito Corlene be more different then Travis Bickle. That's why I submitted those characters.

  excellent character portrayals.
  The others... great direction (if you like Scorscese...) but over the top acting.
  I think DeNiro overacts a lot but, similar to Streep, he creates such an intriguing spectacle that it is seen as "great."
  I prefer to agree with Shakespeare's dictum when I judge acting.
