excellent character portrayals.
The others... great direction (if you like Scorscese...) but over the top acting.
I think DeNiro overacts a lot but, similar to Streep, he creates such an intriguing spectacle that it is seen as "great."
I prefer to agree with Shakespeare's dictum when I judge acting.
