I came across this book on a book dealer's site [title as in the subject heading]. The reprints are cheap (the original from 1915 starts at $250 though). The bookdealer's description:

"First major book treating film as a serious art form rather than mere sideshow entertainment. Best known as a poet, Lindsay [author] attempted to invent a classification system for 'photoplay' criticism, and discusses examples . . . with interesting chapters on the differences between photoplays and the stage, censorship, the place of the orchestra [!] and more . . ."
