damn--- i read the book so very long ago (1965). i thought it was at the end of the novella. that being said, check out the wikipedia entry on the film. alsothe epigram for The Wasteland, by TS Eliot, which is read by Kurtz in the film.Farom the Wikipedia article: "Willard enters Kurtz's chamber during one of his message recordings, and kills him with a machete. Lying bloody and dying on the ground, Kurtz whispers "The horror... the horror." (This line is taken directly from Conrad's novella.)"

Yes , that's what Wikpedia says but I searched the STORY on line and there is only one use of the word "horror" early in the story and it is singular. I also skimmed the story and did not find it. I'd hate to have the wade through it again to prove my point.
