Born Joachim Fritz Krauledat, the East German teenager who would eventually change his name to John Kay learned English after immigrating to Toronto in the late 50's. By the mid-sixties was lead vocalist fronting the group The Sparrow which would eventually become Steppenwolf; one heck of a fine rock band. Now you have the rest of the story, without the usual grey poupon slathered all over some old 70's flick starring Max Von Sydow. ;^)

But anyway they were a good rock group.
