A tale of a boy (played as a grown up by Robert Downey Jr) in ethnic New York where the immigrants hang together and both boys ans girls have an emotional range from sentiment to violent in a heartbeat.
He gets along, doesn't get along and finally wants out under the influence of the one boy apparently not born in NY.
After some disasters he manages to run and 20 years later comes back to see his parents.
This has a great feel of authenticity about it and the whole cast are superb.
Apart from Dianne Wiest, I think I recognised a few other faces from Law And Order.
This is a very real in-yer-face film about kids growing up with attitude and how it makes them or destroys them.
For anyone who has kids or parents (!) this is a must see.
