first viewing. I liked it the first time but this time... I was even more impressed. Pen-Ek is a brilliant director who is saying a lot about contemporary Asian society--- and the human condition--- through a suspenseful, intelligent story of crime and redemption.
No director has surpassed Ratanaruang's harmonizing of image, motion, and music.

Are the two deaths real or are they the alter egos of the characters, a symbolic detachment from their pasts?
The old house: is it the past glory of the girl's family now fallen into ruin-- the end of the traditional Thai society?
