I like Susperia, but my personal favourite is Profondo Rosso (Deep Red). Great stuff. Certainly not a splatter flick - only a couple stabbings from memeory - however, Argento's camera work and the Goblins sound track are very special.
Follow Ups:
Have not seen Deep Red. I have a couple Argento films here but they are on Lazor Disc and I dont have a player :(Two Evil Eyes
The Stendhal Syndrome
Bird with the Crystal Plumage
and Deamons.Found all them at a garrage sale but have not viewed them. Except Deamons on vhs some time back.
Tenebrae and Phenomena are also very much worth finding.Tenebrae is quite scary and has a very twisted plot - close to the quality of Deep Red.
Phenomena is not such a good film but is worth looking out for 2 reasons. 1. A very young and pretty Jennifer Connelly,
2. An awesome tracking shot as the opener which is somehow shot continuously over a field, over a roof, down the wall, in a window, into a bedroom, down the stairs, in another room, out another window.
