The answer is very simple, and regarding US politics you should be familiar with it: it's the principe of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" (and maybe useful sometime).BTW, it's a highly recommended film.

I guess I'm not inclined to think that way.I thought the movie was mildly interesting but with poor production standards--of course, budget is everything. I also felt the movie was too sympathetic to Rita's emotional side and her attempts to live a "normal" life. I presume the producer and director were "Robin Hood" ideologues just like Rita.
