So in a couple of paragraphs you demean an entire 100+ years of Hollywood moviemeking. What's next? Jazz? Baseball? Our Consitution? I have more than once observed that Hollywood regularly tirns out at least 10 good to great films each year, a small percentage, yes, but it's there. And almost every technical development (which when used well adds to the suspension of disbelief and heightens viewer involvement) has come from American film making (modern editing, color, wide screen, stereo then surround sound, imprived film stocks, digital cinematography, etc.). Go ahead and be an elitist but you can't deny the entire industry's contribution.
BTW, their are many micro-brewieries in the United States.and most brew enthusiasts will cite Maytag's purchase of the Anchor Steam Beer brewery as the beginning of the micro-brew movement (parallel, yes, with the "Real Ale" movement in Britain).
