Films/DVD Asylum

I don't care for most of Robin Willims's films (for such a talented person he sure has made a lot of clunkers) so I didn't expect much from this one. In this adaptation of a story by Isaac Asimov (later a novel by him and Robert Silverberg) Willimas is a household servant robot who grows close to family members living in this upscale west coastal house. Over time, his goal evolves into becoming more human, first physically, then psychologically and emotionally. He leaves to find others like himself and keeps returning over the years as the family members age and die and are replaced by descendants played by the same actors. Funny at times and enjoyable. For those into antique phongraphs (I am in the process of restoring one) one of these wind ups features prominently.
